Dominic Colston

Nitronica are pleased to welcome Dominic Colston as their new Purchasing Manager.  Dominic previously worked for Mars in England for over 28 years of which 20 years of that was spent in purchasing.  During this time, he was responsible for many categories including;  plastic mouldings temporary labour, capital equipment, gas and electricity, electro-mechanical parts, co-manufactured milk drinks, global training and global mobility tax services – to name a few!  In addition to his broad range of purchasing experience Dominic also has experience in implementing Lean practices with key suppliers which yielded great benefits for Mars and the suppliers concerned.  Dominic also developed and delivered a number of training courses within the Mars University procurement college.  In his last role at Mars he was responsible for buying the gas and electricity consumed across 35 sites in 11 countries.  As part of this he developed and implemented a new purchasing strategy for the category.  His proudest achievement was the delivery of a contract to take the power from a new-build windfarm in Scotland to supply all the Mars sites in the UK which enabled them to move to 100% renewable power.

Dominic has already recruited 2 new people into the Nitronica team and is working on a new team structure and strategy to ensure that the Nitronica purchasing function is capable of meeting the changing needs of the business and meeting customer’s expectations.  He says “Now is definitely a challenging and exciting time to be joining Nitronica’s purchasing team.  We’re dealing with the after-effects of the pandemic and Brexit, the current global challenge of rising commodity prices and electronic component shortages and a rapidly increasing order book as Nitronica attracts more new customers.  We’re working with our key suppliers to meet these challenges while also re-structuring the team to ensure that we remain agile and flexible to deal with any new challenges”.

We would all like to welcome Dominic to the team and look forward to working closely with him to achieve his objectives.
